London Finale

 22 December 2022 -2 January 2023

Our last house sit for this adventure was from 22 to 30 December in Twickenham. A small apartment in a secure block looking after Ollie, a 13 year old cat for a young couple in their 30s. They are an American and a Danish couple going back to his family in Denmark for Xmas. We were kindly left a bottle of bubbles and some English treats from chocs, Pringles and Xmas mince tarts!

We enjoyed being only a 25 minute walk from Jade's partner Sam's parents home to enjoy fun family times. We had great meals, plenty of games and laughter! Plus enjoyed having a night or 2 of Jade staying with us including Xmas Eve. Had a great Palmer family zoom covering Brisbane, London, Wellington and Thames on Christmas morning - Sam walked over to our House-sit to be part of that.

Christmas brunch with Jade.

Christmas dinner with the Harrison family (Sam's family).

Enjoyed looking around Twickenham and Teddington.

Great marble sculpture in Yorke House Gardens in Twickenham.

The Thames

Plus had a walk around Jade's University!

Squirrels very friendly but...did scare me their friendliness to begin with!

A cute coffee stop in a telephone booth.

Even the red buses have a holiday on Xmas day!

Bushy Park deer wander happily.

We even went with the Harrison family to a Hallequins rugby game - Twickenham Rugby Team. They were playing against Bristol. Rugby still not my thing but entertaining to see the Harrison passion for their team!

Has been wonderful getting to know all Sam's family - including grandparents and siblings. A great close family - we know our girl is in good hands!

Our last few nights were back at our friend Becs in Clapham Common. They were away so Jade and Sam came over for New Year's Eve dinner and games. We all watched the fireworks display over the Thames River from our bedroom. Paul, Jade and I worked on the trimming of the espalier (lime) trees.

Our final outing together was to the Kew Gardens Christmas lights on New Year's night. Not even the rain could dampen it's magic!

Spent our last night at Jade and Sam's flat. Yummy croissants for breakfast, walk to Clapham Common Bandstand to catch up with Becs, Steve and Matilda.

No photos of airport farewell - just so hard leaving our baby!!

Great memories with our darling Jade and her wonderful man, Sam!! Six months has gone by so quickly but been great just to be able to 'hang out'  together.

One blog post to go- it will be about our 4 days in Singapore.
